Your Higher Self is the real you, the soul consciousness that is so much more than the physical form you know so well. Your Higher Self is you that is unlimited and eternal. It’s the part of you that excites you with inspiration, guides you with intuition and teaches you through insight. Your intentions, desires and your secrets are well-known to your Higher Self.
You know everything about you. But chances are, you’ve probably had a very limited conversation with your Higher Self. Those incredibly useful flashes of intuition and inspiration can become a much bigger part of your life, if you allow this communication to flourish.
Connecting with your Higher Self is something of a paradox – you are connected, always. In fact, it’s more than a connection. It’s a unity. The physical you can’t be separated from the energetic consciousness-you. But we are here in this physical state, and part of that includes a feeling of separation from everything else. In reality there is no separation. We are one another, we are the earth, the plants, animals, all of life, the cosmos.
Higher consciousness is generally defined as “the part of the human mind that is capable of transcending animal instincts”, or lower consciousness. Indeed, much of our lives are spent in lower consciousness, paying more attention to our external surroundings in order to survive. It’s a byproduct of living in the modern age. Yet, human nature isn’t one-sided at all. Its divine essence is included in the name itself – human being.
So, your Higher Self is that ability that enables you to remain peacefully still from within in the midst of any turbulent situation.
Also, it’s your best inner guidance that is steering you toward the best course of action. So, any time you get an inexplicable feeling or premonition, your Higher Self is trying to communicate with you:
So, how do you tell the difference between a fear-based answer that your ego gives you and the voice of the Higher Self?
If you feel physical sensations of lightness, love, energy, happiness, etc., you are talking to the Higher Self.
Once you feel the presence of your Higher Self, you can ask questions about anything. The Higher Self does not judge or criticize:
If you feel physical sensations of anxiety, tension, fear, or anger, you are talking to the ego.
The ego creates its identity around pain.
There is no identity in the Higher Self. It’s just energy, with no beginning and no end. The natural state of the Higher Self is free, loving, and joyful.
Your life will take on a whole new meaning – and possibly a whole new direction as your higher self-points you toward what is right for you.
What is the essence of your being? What makes you…you? And what is the role of happiness in your life?
Spirituality is so deeply rooted in providing meaning, that it becomes a direct access point for greater happiness.
We all get our happiness from within when we learn to tame our negative thoughts and make optimism our mantra. Before we get to know how we can live a much happier life, let us understand what happiness actually means.
Happiness is a state of being rather than a permanent personality trait. Happiness can be both an internal and external experience.
Happiness is not something that can be achieved once forever, but it is a state of being as discussed above. To be happy most of the time and lifelong, we have to cultivate the habit of being happy. It is an ongoing process that needs practice on a daily basis. Here are some habits or practices that need to be exercised regularly to help happiness grow in us.
